The RGPEO aims to be a leader in the provision of:
- Comprehensive, interdisciplinary geriatric assessment and treatment services in partnership with our older adults, their families and the community;
- Education in geriatrics/gerontology to practitioners, students and community members;
- Research into appropriate treatment and service delivery to older adults; evaluation, advocacy and planning in the development of community services which promote health.

Regional Geriatric Program of Eastern Ontario offers regional coordination in supporting geriatric service delivery. The Geriatrics program provides clinical services for older adults over 65 years of age. Programs include community and in-hospital services.
Older adults are referred to Geriatrics for a variety of concerns such as:
- Recent changes in physical, mental or functional abilities, changes in memory and/or mood.
- Major changes in support needs, caregiver stress and future planning.
- Safety concerns – physical, psychological, social, environmental.
- Sudden increase in the use of health care services over the last 6 months.
